Christmas comes early for the children at RVI
Staff from NEAS deliver toys to the burns unit at the RVI
For the fifth year in a row Maureen Morien and Maureen Jordan,
who both work at North East Ambulance HQ have raised money to buy
presents for children in one of our local hospitals. This year the
presents were delivered to the childrens' burns unit at the RVI on
22nd December.
Each week, they run an in-house bonus ball competition for NEAS
staff, who have to guess the Saturday bonus ball in the National
Lottery to win a cash prize, with a percentage of the takings going
to charity. This year they have raised over £500.
Maureen Morien said: "We have been doing it for a few years now,
and each time we look for a new good cause.
"This year we have been able to buy lots books and toys for the
children plus 4 high chairs to be used on the ward."
Maureen Jordan said: "Being in hospital at Christmas isn't much
fun for anyone, but the presents do help to cheer the children
up"
"Although Maureen and I both collect the money each week and buy
the presents, we couldn't have done it without the help of all the
staff at HQ."
