Paramedics help pensioner trapped under bus
This was the dramatic scene witnessed by shoppers in one of
Newcastle's busiest streets after a pensioner was dragged
under the wheels of a bus.
The 80-year-old woman was taken to Newcastle Royal Victoria
Infirmary after suffering serious injuries to her head,
leg, foot and shoulder.
The accident happened earlier this month (April) on Pilgrim
Street, at the junction with New Bridge Street.
NEAS, police, and fire services worked together to get the
trapped elderly woman out from under the vehicle.
Parts of Pilgrim street were cordoned off and the road was
closed between Market Street and New Bridge Street while accident
investigators were at the scene.
