Would you know what to do if someone was having a cardiac arrest

It's National Heart Month and we are out and about giving advice and teaching basic lifesaving skills

Would you know what to do if someone was in cardiac arrest?

The British Heart Foundation has launched a new campaign Hard and Fast, which is a hands only method of CPR designed to help save lives without the need for mouth to mouth.

In line with the campaign North East Ambulance Service Community Resuscitation Team are out and about in the area teaching Emergency Life Support (ELS) skills - the set of actions needed to help keep someone alive until professional help arrives.

We have organised 2 events this month for members, the first to learn about what happens if you call 999 with a suspected heart attack, the second is how to keep your heart healthy and how to perform basic life saving skills.

The first event will be held in the Lecture Theartre of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Sheriff Hill, Gateshead, NE33 4UG, at 6pm on 15th February

The second event will take place at 6pm on 23rd February in the Mortimer Community College. Reading Road, South Shields, NE33 4UG.

Come along and see us, you never know it may help you save a life someday!

Call 0191 430 2263 or email members@neas.nhs.uk to reserve your place
