Ambulance Quality Indicators
While getting critically ill patients to hospital as quickly as
possible is our key role, it's not all we do.
Modern ambulance services have evolved immensley in recent
years. Paramedics perform more treatments than ever before, and in
2010/11, we handled on average one thousand 999 calls
every day.
With this in mind, NEAS will be publishing on a
regular basis figures which reflect all levels of
performance - from getting an ambulance to the most
serious cases within a target time of eight minutes, to the speed
at which we answer your telephone call.
These figures are called Ambulance Quality Indicators and are
supplied to the Department of Health by all ambulance services in
England.
There are two types of Ambulance Quality Indicators: Clinical
Outcomes and System Indicators.
The first measures our medical performance, the second how the
mechanics of our service are working.
You can find out more by visiting the Department of
Health's page on Ambulance Quality Indicators.
