Research and Development

North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust prides itself on being one of the leading ambulance trusts in promoting and carrying out pre-hospital research.

We are currently involved in several large studies looking at a wide range of new treatments, techniques and referral pathways in emergency care. We aim to improve the health and wealth of the region through research.

Part of the role of the Research and Development Department is to ensure that research that takes place within the service is of a high scientific, ethical and financial standard, we do this by adhering to the NHS Research Governance Framework which applies to all research carried out in the NHS.

There is mounting evidence to suggest that research active organisations provide excellent care to their patients. Our aim is that patient will continue to see improved services as a consequence of the research carried out at NEAS.
