Positive Action Blog August 2021
The warmer weather and the summer holidays have brought smiles and sparkle back in our lives. We have continued being busy and thank you for all who have been in touch inviting us to your communities.
The ladies at Apnar Ghar have continued to invite us to present a range of workshops that have allowed their service users to expand their knowledge on how to use our services.
The Lifesaving skills workshop continues to be popular and we are glad to train many in our communities on the vital skills.
Thank you to the Peace of Mind charity for inviting us out for a full session with their organisation. Both parents and children enjoyed a fun packed session learning about how to use our services and practising CPR. Again, I was taken back learning so many people still know little about accessing our services. During this session, only two people had ever called 111 or 999 and both were not aware of the free interpreting service we offer. One lady agreed speaking in her own language would have made the experience of calling 999 better for her as she struggled to navigate the questions and process. Everyone was happy to learn interpreters are available online all day long.
We also had our recruitment application and interview support workshop. This is run in conjunction with our recruitment team and we filled all 10 places in a record 24 hours! Attendees were given training in everything relating to recruitment from registering on NHS jobs, searching for jobs, completing the application and preparing for interviews.
