Cllr Kevin Nicholson, BEM

I am currently a Councillor on Darlington Borough Council and I serve as the Cabinet Member for Health & Housing. I love volunteering in my local community and I am particularly interested in creating community events and activities for residents. This can involve supporting with our local foodbank, organising a community concert or arranging a day trip away.
I have been involved with many different activities over the years and I have supported several local projects such as the community cafe refurbishment at Firthmoor, the set-up of a regular NHS blood donation service, Firthmoor LIVE (a fantastic outdoor concert which now takes place annually each summer) and I supported the set-up of a new NHS dental surgery based at the Firthmoor Community Centre.
I am passionate about connecting people to the things that matter to them, by creating memorable moments with their community, family and friends. I was overwhelmed to receive a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Queen's New Year Honours List in 2014.
