I completed my training as a Registered General Nurse in 1991 and worked in Accident & Emergency for several years. I then moved into a role within the National Blood Service (now NHSBT) and worked my way from Staff Nurse to National Standards Manager before leaving the organisation in 2004.
From then I have worked for the Healthcare Commission (now CQC) as an Inspector – during this period I also achieved a MA in Leading, Managing and Partnership Working from Thames Valley University.
In 2008 I moved back into mainstream NHS taking up a governance focussed management role at South Tyneside NHS FT. In 2011 I attained a Deputy Director post at Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS FT.
I have held my current post of Director of Quality Governance at Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS FT since May 2015.
