I was born in Bishop Auckland General Hospital in 1955, brought up in the St Helen Auckland area, then lived in Durham before moving to Newton Aycliffe in 1994.
I am a Project Accountant specialising in cost effective and practical planning, financial administrative and logistical support for all aspects involving the commercial and private build projects environment.
Coming from a working-class background, my first job when I left school and before I went to college was as a general labourer on a building site. I spent almost my entire working life in the accountancy profession and have a wide knowledge of the financial workplace and environment which I hope to bring to the Trust together with clarity of thought and plain talking.
Having enjoyed the benefits and opportunities afforded to me by society I wanted to give something back in gratitude and believe that the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust gives this to me.
My only interest is patient service and the well-being of all staff and volunteers who provide it.
I found it a very humbling experience when elected as a Public Governor for the Trust and hope that I can now repay the trust and confidence that other Members of this Trust have placed in me.
I am currently assisting the Trust in engaging with members and the public in the southern part of the region.
I am identifying ways in which I can speak to members of my local community about the Trust. This has included manning a stall in my local library and attending patient practice groups at GP surgeries.
I am seeking to promote the opportunity to join the Trust as a Foundation Trust member and also seek feedback from those with experience of using the Trust’s services. The Trust also offers a number of volunteering opportunities and I am helping to raise awareness of this within the local community. You can find out more about how the Trust is performing and what key activities have been undertaken in the last financial year by referring the the Review of the Year documents available at this link.
To-date I have focussed my efforts on Newton Aycliffe but I am seeking to expand my engagement to Bishop Auckland and Darlington in due course.
