Ricky Clayton

Ricky ClaytonI grew up in Newcastle; my mother was a State Registered Nurse and my father a Hospital Porter, so after coming to live in Durham it seemed natural to join Durham Ambulance Service. I had previously worked for Northumberland Ambulance Service, and then I was part of North East Ambulance Service up until I retired.

I am currently an Ambulance Car Service Volunteer for NEAS and a Red Cross Volunteer. I am also the North East rep on the Arthritis Care regional committee, a committee member at Billy Row, Stanley Way & Hilltop Villages Community Association and the Community Exchange (Cumbria)

My hobbies include gardening, caravanning, old cars and relaxing. I am very proud to be elected as a public governor; it has satisfied a need to put something back into my local community and I hope that the experience that I gained working for the ambulance service and as a union steward will help me to become a valued member of the Council of Governors.
