I am 59 and live in Barnard Castle.
My first taste of the NHS was as a Hospital Porter, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham!
I came to Durham to take my degree at Collingwood College.
Having been 'bitten by the NHS bug' I followed a career in Management: firstly in London, then Edinburgh. I returned to the North East in 1994 as Chief Executive of Durham County Ambulance Service and then as a Director with NEAS.
Following my retirement in 2007 I spent some time travelling: this included a memorable Road Trip (Route101) in the US.
I also established a management consultancy service.
I have two daughters, Imogen is an artist living in Edinburgh and Olivia is a journalist based in the Lebanon.
My interests include walking, photography and listening to my rather excessive collection of vinyl!
This year, when time permits, I hope to travel to see my daughters and also my friends in California.
I am really looking forward to making a contribution to the new Foundation Trust as a member of the Council of Governors.
