Michael McNulty

I come from a strong nursing and medical family but I have spent my career as an academic economist in a local university specialising in labour markets and quality management and working for the Open University.

On taking early retirement, I have continued to serve as an associate lecturer with the Open University and in addition, chaired the board of governors at a local primary school, taking it to be graded 'outstanding' by Ofsted  I also turned my attention to the area of health, chairing a local 'Link' statutory body for several years, the forerunners of local 'Healthwatch' organisations and represented the region at national Department of Health meetings.

I continued to be active in local health affairs as a governor of a hospital foundation trust, serving as its Lead Governor for 6 years and playing a very active role in the successful merger with a neighbouring trust.

I now very much welcome the opportunity to serve in this related but vital health field and bring my experience to bear on the improving efficiency of NEAS and forming closer links with our trust membership and our regional population whom we aim to serve to the best of our ability.
