About the Community Resuscitation and Development Team

L-R: Paul Brolly, Gareth Campbell, Michael Elvidge, Alex Mason
The Community Resuscitation and Development Team look after various community resources including Community First Responders (CFRs) and Community Public Access Defibrillators (cPADs).
We recruit, train and manage responders, deliver community familiarisation sessions about the importance of the Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and early defibrillation, and work with communities and charities across the north east to acquire and install cPADs which are then registered on our emergency dispatch system.
All of this can improve patient outcomes, as CFRs are dispatched to emergencies, members of the public feel more confident to start CPR, and can be guided to the location of the nearest defibrillator in the event of an emergency call to 999.
