Comedy star Chris hands life saving equipment to Tyneside college

South Shields actor delivers defibrillator

North East comedian and actor Chris Ramsey put smiles on the faces of staff and pupils at a Tyneside college, when he handed over a life-saving defibrillator.

Chris, from South Shields, is best known for his role in the BBC2 sitcom Hebburn.

Chris presented the equipment to the Harton Technology College as part of the Heart Superstars Campaign, which was set up by a North East family touched by the tragedy of sudden cardiac arrest.

Relatives of father-of-two Neil Best, who collapsed and died aged 32 at home in Dudley near to Cramlington a decade ago, have raised money to buy defibrillators.

Neil's sister Christine Stephenson and widow Kelly decided to provide defibrillators after discovering the Arrhythmia Alliance's Hearts and Goals campaign, fronted by former Bolton Wanderers star Fabrice Muamba, who almost died when he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during an FA Cup tie at Spurs' ground.

Harton Technology College already has one machine fitted but due to the size of the building
