Research and development
At North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) we have a dedicated team of
research paramedics who aim to improve paramedic practice, not just in the North East but throughout the UK.
They have won prizes for their research and, as a result, NEAS is considered one of the best services in the UK for pre-hospital research.
The Research and Development (R&D) team is externally funded and brings in more than £200,000 of external funding per year from the Research Network and for government-funded research projects.
Current and previous projects the team has been involved in include stroke, cardiac arrest, trauma, orthopaedics, triage techniques, referral pathways, sepsis, head injuries, leadership and quality improvement.
Providers of NHS services must provide data on performance in initiating and delivering clinical research.
