Paramedic Scott Dalton
Name: Scott Dalton
Where and when did your career in the Trust start?
I began my NEAS career with the patient transport service apprenticeship (scheduled care) in 2015 after nearly 10 years working in a call centre and not getting anywhere in that career.
What apprenticeship did you complete?
I completed a level 3 NVQ in customer care through Gateshead college.
What are you doing now?
I am now a qualified Paramedic.
How has the apprenticeship programme you completed helped you on your journey?
The apprenticeship helped me gain the necessary communication skills and patient handling techniques I needed to further my career, while helping me understand some of the more common ailments that our patients face.
It has also helped me be more empathetic towards these patients and build a natural rapport needed to help make the patients feel more comfortable in my care. I was also able to gain my C1 license through the apprenticeship which has enabled me to drive the larger emergency vehicles.
