Paramedic

Being a paramedic is one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs you can do. No two days are the same, and North East Ambulance Service paramedics are dedicated to providing the very best level of service to each patient and making a difference to the communities we serve.

Paramedic fast blurry

To become a paramedic, you will need to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a degree in paramedic science, and C1 on your driving license. There are also important personal qualities we look for in our paramedics – being able to handle stressful situations, being empathetic to our patients, and treating everyone with the dignity and respect they deserve.

At the North East Ambulance Service, we are looking for due-to-qualify, newly qualified and experienced paramedics. We can offer:

  • A relocation package of up to £4,000
  • A bespoke training package tailored to you and your needs before going live on the road, including a three-week familiarisation course
  • An on-hand mentor to guide you through your day
  • Clear career progression from paramedic to HART, locality manager, trauma team, research, education and the advanced paramedic role
