North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) is proud to announce
The annual 999 EMS Research Forum event will take place on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 September 2025 at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle in association with The National Ambulance Research Steering Group (NARSG) and PRIME Centre Wales.
The event brings together a range of healthcare and ambulance professionals to celebrate and share research and quality improvement in pre-hospital emergency care.
Michelle Jackson, research and development manager said: “It is with great pleasure we will host the 999 EMS Research Forum event this year. Research and innovation are at the heart of improving patient care and we are extremely proud of the research that takes place within NEAS and thereby improving the care we are able to provide to patients.”
North East Ambulance Service covers 3,200 square miles across the North East region. It employs more than 3,400 staff and serves a population of 2.7 million people by handling all NHS 111 and 999 calls for the region, operating patient transport and ambulance response services, delivering training for communities and commercial audiences and providing medical support cover at events.
NEAS is dedicated to improving and evolving clinical care and it has a dedicated research team who are focused on improving paramedic practice, both in the North East and across the rest of the UK.
The research projects cover a variety of areas, including stroke, cardiac arrest, sepsis, head injuries, trauma, orthopaedics, triage techniques, referral pathways, leadership and quality improvement.
Michelle added: “Due to the quality and impact of the research, the NEAS research team has won prizes for their research and the organisation is now considered to be one of the leading services in the country for patient recruitment onto research studies.
“It is a real privilege for us to host a conference like this, attracting attention to pre-hospital research in our region and we look forward to welcoming our partners in September."
